Swindon Town have Premier League quartet lined up to sign

Town boss Kevin MacDonald Town boss Kevin MacDonald

SWINDON Town have four players from Premier League clubs lined up to come in on loan as soon as the embargo hanging over the club is lifted.

The Advertiser understands three of the quartet, two of whom are believed to be Tottenham youngsters Dean Parrett and Cristian Ceballos, were ready to sign on with Town earlier this week only for the Football League to fail to allow the Robins flexibility in the transfer market once again.

However, it is understood that the deals for the four are more or less done and will kick into action very quickly after the embargo is removed.

The two other players in questioned remain unidentified but the Adver has learnt that one is a young midfielder and the other an experienced striker, both of whom are currently on the books of top-flight sides.

Swindon are also believed to be considering the possibility of a fifth signing, should they be free to do so, before the emergency loan window closes on March 28.

Senior figures within the club remain hopeful that the embargo will be lifted before the end of the week, after all the teams owed money via outstanding loan fees and transfer instalment payments were recompensed.

Meanwhile, the Adver understands Town are set to announce a deal with an overseas entertainment company which could see the County Ground host six sets of weekend concerts a year.

Artists such as Cheryl Cole and Tulisa are believed to have been lined up in an arrangement that could net the Robins several million pounds over the course of a decade.

I realise we need cash and any cash is good cash. But I can't see it working. 6 concerts in such a small space of time when the pitch needs replacing just won't work. For a start 10,000 swindon folk won't be buying tickets for 6 events as too close together and I doubt 10,000 people at all would want to watch Cheryl Cole mime. They could probably sell out a few weekends with a 'festival' type angle and a load of 'acts' in that calibre but I can't see it making us millions. The old board would have considered this avenue and the new director who is involved in 'music' is as small fry as they come. Would love them to do this and make the club 1m a year but its not happening. Pipe dreams from this naive naive bunch.

Read only a few comments since Tues match. The negativity on here has been immense. The board has just got here.KM has just got here. But so many of you want instant results and instant success.

Remember, we have been dumped on by the former owner and former manager in a very short time span. The timing of it all was mindblowingly ill judged, but we have what we have.

I think KM is doing a great job and needs time. Yes it could dent our promotion push, but the season is far from over.

LR - I do hope you are right and I have the same feeling that things will change once all the wrinkles are finally ironed out, but it takes time.

Avo - great post.

I feel that any extra revenue stream is welcome. May have been tried before, but lets not dismiss it out of hand as an instant failure.

We have enough trouble getting 10000 into the County Ground to watch the Town. Pople complain about not having the cash to watch two games in a week but will always find the cash ifwe get to Wemley or Man U came to the CG,so no doubt 6 concerts will mostly be sell outs but of course not with STFC supporters.

Dave,

Have to own up that it was me. Not because I necessarily believe it but from the impression I get when reading some of the posts :-(

Several Million pounds over the next decade should be what we are taking as a positive from this post. If it is a million a year it is equivalent of a quarter of this season's budget !!!!

Pitch should not be a problem, cover it for a day no problem. Anyone remember Live Aid, the Freddie Mercury tribute and various other concerts at the old Wembley ? No problems with that pitch.

Doesn't have to be to our taste musically, but would like to see Maiden or similar there, what is the problem they are not expecting fans to necessarily buy the tickets.

We could always look at pitch sharing with Bath RFC :-)

think your find for concerts they will have a bigger capacity as people can stand on the pitch, probably 15K @ £40 ticket = £600K x 6 a year £3.6M!! People unfortunately will travel alot further to see a Cheryl Cole gig than come to watch Swindon play, but it could be great revenue for the club.

Sorry you are wrong. How many people from Cardiff go to shows in Cardiff- Millenium Stadium, very few, most come from out of town, same London etc. This will be the case here too. It gives people another option. This is not only good news for the club but for the town. It will bring money into the town and up the reputation we have as a town, god know we need that. Personally I'm looking forward to going to some of these events without having to drive miles, sit in traffic jams for hours and pay extortionate amounts of money for drink and food. As for the pitch, these companies lay boarding on the pitch and it has no adverse effect on the pitch. So I think, like I say your concerns are really unfounded.

Loan players take time to settle in as by definition they haven’t been playing regular first team football. Hollands perhaps was the exception but look at Martin, Bostock & Rooney. Everyone is looking for a striker who can score 1 in 2 games.

well said avo, so people will only be happy when we go bust or get relegated. The West Country is crying out for a big sized venue.

Look at the Ricoh arena - regular gigs all full and they have Birmingham to compete with. This year Muse and Springsteen are playing.

Cannot understand why Jed is working hard to improve income and people winge. Very depressing.

The main this of course is it will start to put us on the map - get publicity and who knows but if a few gig goers come back to try the football its worth it for that.

It does seem that the board had more than the Shrewsbury debt to deal with as it stated "clubs" had to be paid so not just one club but surely all this should have been sorted on the handover? Black wanted out quick and must have said you take on all the debts which has obviously not been well documented or listed for the new owners and they seem to be finding out when the payments defaulted. Oh the joys of running a football club. I am still waiting to hear from the club and as others say I would rather Jed came to the adver instead of just tweeting on twitter about what is going on EXACTLY. Muse will do for a concert Jed and how about another Rooney down here as he is struggling for game time at Man U with Van Persil playing so well.

Mick - it is annoying, and it would be easier if the club just released the statement instead and attributed it to whoever said it.

But at least 'The Adver understands' is better than the use of passive voice, e.g. 'it is understood', which is nothing other than useless, lazy writing. I hate passive voice, where the subject receives the action in the verb. Better to use the active voice, where the subject performs the action, and hence the reader can focus on the subject.

Unfortunately the Adver likes the passive voice too.

Mad Terrier understands that the Adver doesn't really understand anything, it just gobbles up whatever line it is fed.

To clarify some points here about the music venue venture...

STFC will contract very little risk here. A production company contracts to run the shows of an artist and they contract with STFC to provide a venue. STFC will be obliged to provide the venue (subject to obtaining a licence from the council) and most likely the hospitality staff and possibly security. STFC will either take a fixed fee for the venue and retain all revenue from hospitality (food and drink) or take a fee based on a percentage profit cut from ticket sales and rebate a percentage of hospitality profits to the production company.

The cost for STFC to obtain the licence from the council is minimal (legal and admin fees), its overheads for hospitality staff (and or security) are not likely to be significant either.

The production company will arrange for staging to be procured (most likely loaned) and set up and STFC will just have some project manager overseeing the exercise.

So other than use of the venue (which other than the licence cost is free to STFC ) and hospitality/security staff it has very little other direct cost, other than perhaps the project management team.

Its very much a win win for swindon, the issue is will it be profitable enough for other production companies to use swindon as a venue.

On the face of it and seeing the sucess of oasis as a music venue, no reason to suggest a slightly larger venue can't support music events in this area.

Pleased about the loan signings we need some fresh legs...onwards and upwards.

In modern times, the Ides of March is best known as the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BCE.

As Spider reminded us yesterday it coincided 44 year ago, that we put the Arsenal to the sword. Could this be an omen of the first full moon of the ancient calendar to mean we will indeed get the embargo lifted or will the weirwolves be howling and out in force looking for Jed.

The Ides of March was also a George Clooney film, which is trailed as 'An idealistic staffer for a new presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail'.

e busted my balls getting these stars and their all ready to go for Sat at 3-Tickets are flying out the
door Jed,we have a home game on Sat,season ticket holders have paid upfront for the privilege of seeing the team and all the walk ups should see a gate of maybe 8-9 thow'.Team, what team-if your on about having a game of football whilst more important stuff is going on you had best think again-let them have a kick about in the car park-no hang on a minute that will be full of the bands entourage and sound crew-send them down to Mannington wreck.Jed,this is a football league game,we have responsibilities. Uh wot does that mean?

Sounds promising. We do need new bodies in.

Can't see why people are moaning about the gigs. Anything that gets people into the ground is a good thing even if not to watch football. The awareness raised and potential is worth it.

I hope the Oasis improvements happen though then we'll get a proper 6500 venue for concerts.

Depressingly, I've never heard of Tulissa - does she/he play for Brazil? I wouldn't object to playing a mid-field role with CC though, or is that just an age thing?

On a more footballing note, I haven't actually heard of many, if any, of these names that are being bandied about who may/may not be gracing the hallowed County Ground turf in the near future . I'm genuinely impressed by the footballing knowledge some of our bloggers have.
I was at the match on Saturday in my usual disguise and wasn't too depressed by the general shape of the team but clearly there is a need for some fresh blood to spark things up - I continue to be impressed by Ferry and Foderingham - best get new players whose names begin with 'F' then?

Oh, were still here. Not without good reason it would seem!

Today's the day then? Or maybe 'as early as Monday the Adver understands'. Tomorrow? Later this week? Early next week?

Come on people. Even those who only subscribe to the view that Jed has more money to throw at Town than Abramovich. I think a lot is coming from this bl00dy Twitter and the journalist(s) are trying to pass this information off, possibly in good faith as a scoop, but is it backfiring.
Crux of the matter, is the lack of contact full-stop from this evasive new board which obviously is raising suspicions and doubts,

A journalist? I wouldn't put him as high as that.a comedian with egg on his face yet again, he just winds people backs up to get reactions, and to be fair to him over 4 hundred post today , even if I done 11 on the 5pm countdown.
This time next week the deadline will be gone.
Then jedthered will come out saying all the sob stories and **** about the f.l which then deters the blame from him.
Or he will blame picaretta for not handing his contract exit forms back,
After why should he when he hasn't been paid?
Then you all turn on the di canio regime once more.

Come on people. Even those who only subscribe to the view that Jed has more money to throw at Town than Abramovich. That KMac is going to over shadow Sir Alex as the longest serving and most successful team manager in history and that Ronaldo, Messi, Ozil and Kaka' are the four players lined up must now be having doubts!

Ahhh I can see why we have the silence now yes it all makes sense at long last. Well er its like this if you want the truth from the club then no one would renew their season tickets and as they are running out of Ritchie's money that means they do not want to spill the beans which would damage the revenue intake from all the mugs I mean fans getting their season tickets. Yes Jed good thinking say nothing and hopefully it will all go away and thousands of fans will be falling over each other in the stampede to renew their seats. I'm glad speedway has started as the football club have become a laughing stock so its off to Blunsdon for me. By the way Jed the non disclosure finished weeks ago.

Saga dude you could not be more wrong about Grim mate break him in half and he will have STFC running through the middle. I would class myself as STFC through and through but this silence has cheesed me off no end and the worst thing the board can do in all this is keep the fans in the dark. That my friend is the most damaging thing the club can do and causes suspicion and too many issues to list on here but sending Grim to Reading is not good on your part. Opinions are all we are at the end of the day but many fans I know are fed up to the back teeth with the lack of information and embargo and lack of explanation about it. In such a time where fans will be renewing their season tickets and should be, but then there is this air of distrust and worry about the real state of the club and its finances. Surely Jed should be easing fans minds and reassuring them in this troubled period and not staying silent as all that does is breed over active minds with fear and worry.

Unfortunately atchafred, there are some that do not accept an alternative view even if as you say it's based on fact. If they don't agree with your views you will be called a moaner, negative, fringe fan who doesn't support your team and sometimes even worse. They are at their best when patronising each other on their post, there is no point argueing a point with them, because they will only put you down

So best you stick to your principles and say it as you see it. there are still a few on here that will appreciate your opinion, even if they don't agree with it, so keep on posting.

'We'??

Don't try and gain any substance or credence by adding that word to your post.

You DO NOT speak for me so just make your own point and stop hiding behind the imaginary masses that support your view.

The 'East End' comment is also poor - as is the retort that such a remark may be made from someone who resides in Penhill or Oxford so I won't make it, just will think it.

STFC supporters are used to adversity, however frustrating and (most) will learn to just deal with it.

So should you IMO only.

The continued silence on the embargo by the new Board, headed by Jed,is unacceptable now.Answers must now be given as to why the Embargo has not been lifted,in particular,at the time of season ticket renewals. It appears that Jed and Co.are hoping for revenue from season tickets, smaller squad and Management wages to pay,to see this season out. Then some Concerts revenue
through the close season-all on a shoestring. The sale of the Club seems to have been made by Black to the only consortium to meet his need to exit quickly and to the only consortium with a a bid that could meet his deadline. If that appears to be the case, with the highest paid and best players leaving in the close season,Division 1 survival is the besbest hope and expectation next season.Jed and Co simply do not have any real money necessary to meet the exceptional finances needed in the Championship or even L 1.A STATEMENT from the Board MUST be made swiftly to allay all the fears expressed by nearly every poster.

She was very shocked to be told to clear her trolley this evening, having been dismissed without notice. She was also asked to hand back all Swindon Town property and tea bags in particular.

The new Board posted a message on Twitter, saying that she was too old for the new and modern pop concert image at the County Ground, but thanked her for her service and have arranged fro Doris to have an interview at B&Q.

Lawyers acting on behalf of Doris now claim that although she was paid up to and including 28/2/13, she is now owed up to and including 5pm. today 15/2/13. Under the circumstances the embargo cannot be lifted until she is paid wages due.

BREAKING NEWS!!

The Adver understands that Doris the Tea Lady has left the club after 82 years of service.

Re. dates of Doris's employment the matter of the misrepresentation of 15/2/13 as the date of termination of contract, rather than the true date of 15/3/13, further legal deliberation will be required. Parties in dispute will deliberate at length on this matter. A ruling is to be expected in late May after which the matter of the embargo can be considered.

Not forgetting chaps, all legal fee's will have too be settled and paid in full, before any embargo can be lifted,so we're looking at the start of next season before there's any possibility of the embargo being lifted!!!!!!!!!

False rumours. She's now running the cafe on Snowdon. Felt she was ready to make tea at a higher level.

So it is not all doom and gloom. This is what i have been hoping for - that Kevin's knowledge and understanding of the English game, plus his excellent reputation, will result in us getting some really good, and experienced players in on loan. We must keep the faith, guys !. COYR.
Don't jump the gun. Until embargo lifted they may as well be lining up Van Persie and Suarez!

Need new faces sharpish and would be handy if before Yeovil game.

I was at UEA, Norwich on Wednesday.

When asked where I'd come from, I said Swindon. Some knew where it was, others didn't have a clue.

Even outside footballing circles, the town needs to be put on the map.
No it doesn't! There's nothing to do in Swindon! It's just a holding for the Jeremy Kyle show! Your best attraction is the steam train in the shopping outlet!
