SWINDON TOWN: Thompson and Miller doubts ahead of Brentford trip
4:00pm Monday 11th March 2013 in Sport
NATHAN Thompson and Tommy Miller are both doubts for Swindon Town ahead of the trip to Brentford tomorrow.
Neither right-back Thompson nor midfielder Miller trained with the Robins on Monday as they look to recover from respective knee and calf injuries sustained in the 2-2 draw with Walsall on Saturday.
Manager Kevin MacDonald said the Town medical team will take another look at the pair in the morning to decide whether or not they are fit to travel to Griffin Park.
“Nathan Thompson and Tommy Miller didn’t train today from the knocks that they got on Saturday and we’re going to look at them again tomorrow before we travel to see if they are available to play," her said.
“We’re hopeful. It’s only two days after the game. Tommy is a lot better than he was on Saturday after the game, I think he took a kick early on in the game.
“Nathan is a bit better but we’ll have to wait and see. I think he got a clash of knees. Hopefully it was just a bash, we’ll see what happens."
With limited numbers at MacDonald's disposal, youth-teamers Connor Waldon and Alex Ferguson could be included in the matchday squad.
The duo have been training with the first team of late.
“We took the two lads to come in and have a little look at how things go and then they trained with the first team last week and they trained yesterday, and one of them who wasn’t at college trained with us today," said MacDonald.
"We’ll have a little look at them as well and we are down to the bare bones so there’s no point in turning up without a full bench. We might as well have a look at one or two of the kids and see if they’re going to be good enough."
