WILTSHIRE swimmer Jazz Carlin completed her golden hat-trick on the final day of the British Gas International Meet in Leeds as she claimed the 400m freestyle title.

The former Wootton Bassett School pupil overcame a tough 2012 to produce Welsh records for her 800m and 1500m freestyle golds earlier in the week.

Her winning time of 4:07.14 in the 400m was shy of her personal best 4:05.51, but Commonwealth Games medallist Carlin was adamant her performances in Leeds had restored her confidence ahead of the World Trials in June.

“I’m really happy with that. It was always going to be tough after the 1500m yesterday but I just said to my coach that I wanted to give it a go; to come out with gold is fantastic.

“The 400m is my favourite event, but my coach thinks I may be better suited to the 800m and 1500m so we’ll need to have a sit down before June to discuss which to prioritise for the trials.”

Elsewhere, Trowbridge ASC swimmer Chloe Davies finished on the podium for the fifth time in the four-day meet as she finished second behind Paralympic colleague Jessica-Jane Applegate in the women's multi-classification 50m freestyle.

Clubmate Aaron Moores claimed a third-placed finish in the men's 100m multi-classification 100m breaststroke final. Moores was also seventh in the 50m freestyle.
