EXCALIBUR Communications have sponsored an initiative to fill the Excalibur Stand at the County Ground for the visit of Oldham Athletic on Friday, March 29 2013.

Excalibur have purchased 2013 tickets for the match which will be available to junior football teams for the visit of the Latics.

Tickets will be free to juniors aged 15 and under while each team manager will also receive a free ticket. Additional adult tickets will be available, priced at £15. Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied at a ratio of one adult to every four children.

Ticketing arrangements for the Excalibur Stand initiative will be co-ordinated by STFC Football in the Community Trust. Call the community office on 01793 421303 to register interest for your Junior or school football team.

Town chairman Jed McCrory said: “Excalibur have been great supporters of Swindon Town FC and must thank them for their help with this latest initiative. Hopefully by working together we can fill the Excalibur Stand for the Oldham game and create an atmosphere to remember at the County Ground, whilst also inspiring a future generation to become Town fans.”

Darren Beggan, of Excalibur Communications, said: “We’re now into our second season of sponsorship with STFC in which we’ve provided match sponsorship, programme advertising & groundboards along with the full sponsorship of the Excalibur Stand.

“As part of our on-going relationship with the club we are pleased to be able to offer these tickets and give something back to the local community.”

Shame this article hasn't seen a more positive response from our forum, IMO an absolute good news story, we want the bank filled EVERY week and if it means bringing in fans for the future, all the better. In my early days we could move from town end to stratton bank during the match, it is no longer possible, so fill the bank, extra revenue and let the future generation get a taste of what it means to be a STFC. supporter.

Sign players win games and the rest is history.
We need the town end filled before the bank.
A very bad atmosphere today in every part of the ground.

Maybe the fact that the normal subscribers, in the main, were at ythe match this afternoon had something to do with your lack of a 'more positive response', and the fact the story wasn't posted until 2.50 - 10 mins before the Kick Off!!

This is a great idea. My first game, 21 years ago, was on the Bank. Hopefully a lot of those 2013 will get the bug just like I did.

This is fantastic. The new board and Excalibur should be congratulated on this move.

We have already contacted players at the junior club I am associated with and hopefully we will get 20-30 youngsters to the game.

We had a group at the Doncaster game and they loved it.

Get them hooked young and they end up like us, fans for life :-0.

Excellent stuff.

My first game wasn't on The Bank, but it was an organised trip with other kids my own age.

More of this sort of thing.

Hope the weather on the day is better than the picture The Adver has used!

Great idea, and you can be certain that these kids will make more noise than the Town End who havn't sang since the Macari days.
Just sayin !

Little bit unfair to blame it all on the Town end. I sit in the southside and yesterday it was dire!!! We really do need to get behind them at home for the last four games, otherwise i think promotion this season will just fade away..

Moving on, Brentford up next on Tuesday night, not sure how many tickets we have sold or have been allocated, but you can bet your life the away end will be rocking!!!

Town end are the only ones who sing as far as I can see, I do my best in the DR but it's not easy when no-one else is interested (or as when Sheffield Utd visited, the bloke next to you tells you to keep it down, ffs...)

Atmosphere wasn't great but to be fair the town end is generally pretty full. It just always depresses me looking at the bank and seeing it empty, and we're not in any position to criticise the pox for only having three stands when our fourth is empty for all a few games a year!

Would love it if we could do some sort of scheme where the Stratton bank was opened up with tickets at £10 a go to encourage people in. Might just end up with the existing support sitting in there rather than the town end though.

Just tongue in cheek as some on here keep having a dig at the Arkells.
Singing is awful these day , back in the day when I was in the T/E we used sing throughout the match even when the footie wasn't so good .
Seems the only time we really sing these days is when we are away, and well done for that. We can be a little bit of a laughing stock at home sometimes.

A great initiative, and hopefully a model for the club itself to follow. It would be good to see the Stratton Bank, or in winter, the ends of the main stands filled with free kids, but accompanied by paying adults.

A good initiative, and good to see that our new board are being pro-active.

On the player side, maybe the club could arrange a Reserves/U18 v Trialists match as well, and get a business to sponsor it?

Doesn't have to be at The County Ground, and both sides would benefit.

I know of a few players who have been on trial at Premier League sides recently, so they are not Joe Average by any means.
