Training has stepped up a notch for 21 local athletes who are competing in this year’s Pendle Triathlon.
The group, many of them members at West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick, are taking part in a specially designed training camp, which includes an early-morning swim at the centre, where the triathlon will take place on Sunday, April 21.
Most of them are taking up the challenge for the first time and are progressing under the watchful eye of Pendle Leisure Trust personal trainer John Bannister and last year’s first local in the triathlon, Steven Gregory.
John said: “We originally came up with the idea to give our members a real challenge to help them achieve their fitness goals. Everyone is doing really well and I am confident everyone is going to make it.”
The triathlon training camp takes place every Thursday at West Craven Sports Centre from 6pm.
