RUGBY: Chippenham 37 Weston Super Mare 24
4:30pm Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Sport
CHIPPENHAM’S forwards fronted up as the home side sent the National Three South West title challengers packing at Allington Field.
Weston started well and took the lead 10 minutes in with a try from skipper Dave Burge, but that galvanised the home side and captain Bobby Lyons touched down for his 11th of the season.
With the pack providing plenty of ball, scrum-half Lewis Surry scored his 16th try of the campaign, Chris Hunt converting before Gary Champion drove through and Hunt added the extras, late kicking a penalty.
Prop Dave Swann responded for the visitors, Luke Blizzard converting, but they were 10 points adrift and after the break, leading try scorer Ryan Surry added another to his total for Chippenham.
Chippenham continued to pressure the Weston pack, Hunt landing a further penalty and converted as Ryan Surry took his tally to 17 for the season.
Weston hit back with two late tries from Sam Smee, and Swann, one converted by Blizzard.
