TROWBRIDGE & DISTRICT LEAGUE DIVISION THREE: Bees' win derby day duel with Rangers

WTH regulars Mitchell Spackman and Kieran McCaldon unavailable, and several players out injured, Trowbridge Town Reserves fielded a different looking line-up for their Division Three derby game against Trowbridge Rangers.

With both Jake Sainsbury and Adam Brown making their debuts and the change in line-up provided Town with a 5-1 triumph which avenged their 4-2 loss from earlier in the season.

Town looked the sharper team from the kick off, with the midfield trio of Kurt James, Kieran Green and Aaron McCaldon keeping possession well and after a couple of half chances, Sainsbury did well after 15 minutes, to take the ball through on goal and hit the roof of the net with a powerful finish.

The Bees continued to put pressure on the Rangers defence, and were rewarded with a second goal, with Dan Cockerill drilling in a half volley after a great cross from winger Chad Cain.

Rangers tried to come back into it, and were unlucky after forcing a couple of corners not to open their account, but it was Cockerill who added another for Town after 40 minutes, with his goal bound header ending up in the back of the net via a Rangers defender.

The second half was played in a similar manner, although Trowbridge Town's quality of football was not quite as neat and clinical, Cain topped an impressive performance with a great turn and finish into the top corner after 58 minutes to give The Bees a 4-0 lead.

This was pegged back after 72 minutes when Adam Potter gave away a penalty and the Town keeper, Conor Green was given no chance with Sam Miller’s spot kick.

Town completed the scoring with an excellent 25 yards strike on 80 minutes from man of the match Kieran Green, after a clever lay off from Natty Mills.

Bratton Reserves 0 United FC 2

BRATTON Reserves suffered a 2-0 loss at home to United FC but for both teams it will be a match they will want to forget as tempers boiled over with each team finishing the game with 10 players, Scott Storey seeing red for Bratton with United’s Lukasz Bareja joining him after his late sending off.

A goal in each half from Daniel Wosik earned United their win.

Westwood News 9 Levi’s FC 1

RUNAWAY leaders Westwood News remain on course for the title after their they stretched their winning run to 12 matches with a 9-1 win over Levi’s FC which see’s Mark Hurkett’s side open up an 11-point lead over second placed Bradford United Reserves.

A mistake from Westwood’s keeper Aaron Harford saw him drop the ball to Steve Lewin who put Levi’s in front and for a while they had the better of their hosts but that didn’t last for long and the leaders to things around to lead 4-1 at half time, Richard Jones and Ben Ludwell scoring two each.

The second half saw Westwood maintain their dominance with Ben Ludwell completing his hat-trick before substitutes Dan Thorne and Mark Robinson bagged themselves two goals apiece to wrap up one of Westwood’s easier wins of the season.

Levi’s finished the game with 10 men after they had keeper Paul Pitman sent off.
