SWINDON TOWN: Town statement on takeover and managerial situation
12:22pm Wednesday 20th February 2013 in Sport
Town have issued a statement this lunchtime
SWINDON Town have issued a statement regarding the managerial and takeover situations at the County Ground.
It reads: "Members of the current Board of Directors will be meeting with the prospective new owners today prior to an update with regards to the takeover of the club being provided.
Communication with the Football League continues as the takeover of the club nears completion.
With the club now at the top of League One following yesterday’s excellent team performance at Tranmere Rovers, there is already plenty of speculation as to who the next manager of Swindon Town Football Club will be.
No immediate decision will be taken and in the interim the Board will be discussing the matter with senior members of the playing squad to maintain consistency and be fully prepared for the next two home League One fixtures."

Lost all faith in the whole bloody lot of them, regardless of how much money they've put into the club.
Only the playing squad come out of this with any honour and dignity.
To be honest I now expect Town to be in Admin by Saturday.

And before anyone says anything, I am talking about the takeover, nothing more.
Perhaps they can also discuss why the loan fee was not paid. I suspect it was due for one of the players that returned to the parent club due to injury, such as Giles Coke.
We may be caliming that as the parent club requested its own medical staff treat the player, then the loan contract was invalidated.

Paul Trollope has emerged as a leading contender for the Swindon managers job. After a successful period as first team coach at Birmingham and Norwich City, the new owners believe the time is now right for Paul to return to management with his hometown club.
When the takeover is completed by the new consortium Wigan Athletic striker Connor McManaman will sign on an emergency loan deal.
Derby County are monitoring the Swindon situation very closely at the moment. Clough is a big fan of striker James Collins and central defender Aden Flint. Flint who was a regular with Derbyshire side Alfreton was on Derby's radar a few seasons back and has impressed scouts this season.
Paul Buckle could make a speedy return to football after leaving Luton with Torquay as he helps them until the end of season following lings illness.
Di Canio has apparently had contact from League 1 side Notts County. Di Canio has apparently turned the club down without even having an interview.
Blackpool are another club he made contact before Paul Ince was appointed. It is also thought that if Di Canio would have resigned earlier, he may have become boss at Bloomfield Road.
A club he could sign for is West Brom. Steve Clarke is keen on appointing the Italian to his coaching staff as an extra assistant.
Paolo di canio set for serious talks about being new coventry manager today.
And it goes on and on..zzzzzzzzzzz

No doubt Paolo was aiming a kick in the orchestras at the old guard.
Unfortunately, it's the Fans that have received the shoeing - and it bloody hurts!
Fantastic support from those went to Tranmere last night. Listened in via STFC Player and you could only hear Town Fans singing. Wouldn't you just think that support like that deserves more respect?

The outstanding loan player payment may sound trivial, but if you are transferring ownership and writing off debts and restructuring loans, the books need to be watertight. Can't blame Paolo or Black for this - seems like a straightforward admin error by the club's staff.
I am also wondering whether another potential issue is the new consortium needing indemnification against possible constructive dismissal cases that could be brought to bear against the club by Paolo (and the backroom team?). The wording of his statements and posturing all have the considered ring about them of a constructive dismissal case - broken promises, sale of players without consent or approval, no communication, position untenable etc. etc. Curbishley won his case against West Ham, which cost them £2m
PDC might also have been on a big bonus for getting promotion to the Championship. He may have felt that to achieve that he needed to keep spending money, but the players last night showed clearly that need not be the case.
If you were investing in a business you would not want to be hit by an employment law legal case, precipitated in the previous owners regime, as soon as you get your feet under the desk.
All conjecture of course.
Bodin and/or Ward (Darren, not John from the Trust) in charge until the end of the season if we can't get Adkins on a short-term contract. Then go get a young retiring player/player manager again.

Also before he quit he offered to take a pay cut.

The main owner, the chairman, the manager, the assistant manager, the fitness coach, the goalkeeping coach, all the physios and the best player are in the process of leaving or have left. Presumably Nick Watkins will also leave imminently. In a period of 4 weeks the club has imploded. I just remember the statement from Black that he wouldn't leave behind a car crash. Well he has. And we're not out of it yet. Getting FL approval is like the carrot and the donkey, never quite in reach. And the club is basically now reliant completely on Jed and his boys, who may or may not be fantastic for us, time will tell, but to me it just seems like they were desparate to get their hands on any club for some reason. How we are top of the league throughout all the mayhem behind the scenes is a credit to the players.Wilesy. I used to work for a company that used the 'Carrot and Stick' approach to management. First they beat you with the stick and then they shoved the carrot up your Ar**. I think Town fans understand about that now.

RUMOURS!

Hate the idea of an "outsider" at the minute, in my opinion massively unsettling. We have young hungry players, that with a little bit of guidance from these two could be enough you know. Some old fat has been, middle of the road player and probably even worse track record-wise manager will just bring a lethargic attitude and I think the lads may then start feeling sorry for themselves. No reason they can't ride on the momentum we have and win the league...they all want to go up, course they do, I really don't think a new manager is needed. Sounds odd, but will do more harm than good, mark my words. What's the betting we win the next two games, then appoint a Buckle type and miss out on the playoffs.....

BREAKING NEWS: The cost of socks at all major retailers has now returned to the price they were trading at during the spring and early summer of 2012. Socks have been in short supply since July 2012 when thousands of pairs went missing overnight. The disappearance of the socks led to an increased demand and panic buying, which in turn, led to higher prices at the tills and an increase in the number of pairs being sold on the Black market. However, a spokesman for one of the major retailers said this morning "Our suppliers have been working overtime in an effort to satisy the demand for socks and we are pleased to announce that the levels available in the shops are back to the levels we saw in May 2012. As a result the price has been reduced to reflect this."

Swindon Town Football Club are still unsure whether the takeover has been accepted by the Football League or not. Hopes were raised when the Fax machine sprung into life earlier this afternoon and a message on Football League headed paper started to print. Unfortunately a junior member of the Swindon backroom staff was taken by surprise and spilt his coffee on the machine. A spokesman for the club stated that the member of staff was not to blame as they had no idea what the machine was and it had caught him unawares.
The club have contacted the League by phone and asked for them to send a copy of the fax by email but this request was rejected as they said they had no one trained to use such new technology.
The club have an engineer on site who is working to repair the stricken machine and they hope it will be repaired shortly. They have apologised for the delay but hope that the message will be sent again tomorrow and that they will then be able to make an annoucement regarding the club's future.

I hope the 'Board' (whoever they are at this point) have not accepted PDC's resignation. Whether he goes to Coventry or elsewhere we must receive compensation. If he thinks by resigning before the takeover is complete that this will remove the contractual issue of compensation for any club employing him then he should think again. ..
.....oh and that wasn't the great humour just in case you were confused....it is just me being confused as to who I am and when I am.....although I'm led to believe that I am indeed me and that it is going to be tomorrow...tomorrow!

I thought Fitton was slow, but compared to Jed and his buddies he's like a thoroughbred whippet. Comeback AF all is forgiven!!

I'm beginning to wish that Jed and co would just give it up, so that we can get a PROPER investor in.
If they can't do a deal in 48 hours, they should be told to drop their interest.
We are a Football Club, not a bloody circus!
