SWINDON TOWN: Williams falling short of goal target
6:00am Saturday 16th February 2013 in Sport By Sam Morshead
Town striker Andy Williams
ANDY Williams has revealed he is still a long way off reaching his personal goal target for the 2012/13 campaign.
The striker has netted 10 times for Swindon Town in 32 appearances since joining the Robins from Yeovil in the summer, but he has his sights on plenty more before the season is up.
Williams was not willing to say exactly how many goals he is aiming for this term but he stressed that he will need to have a bountiful run in the final weeks of the campaign if he is going to reach the total he has in his head.
“I’m certainly nowhere near my target yet and I’d like to hit that by the end of the season and if I get somewhere close to it then hopefully we’ll be somewhere close to where we want to be, which is right at the top of the league.
“There are lads chipping in as well. Roons (Adam Rooney) hasn’t played a lot of football but he’s still scored four or five goals and lads who have left have chipped in with goals all over the place. Lately we haven’t scored as many as we might have liked to and that’s where the odd goal in a crucial game can be handy.
“If we’re not winning by five or six every week it’s about winning and keeping the unbeaten run going.
“Both Collo (James Collins) and myself should be reasonably happy with the work we’ve done but I think we’d both say there’s more to come from each of us.”
Williams has played alongside James Collins, Chris Martin, Adam Rooney, Paul Benson and Miles Storey this year, with his strike partner changing on a regular basis.
However, he insisted that the rotation of the forward line has not reduced Swindon’s potency up top.
“If you’re playing with the same person each week you learn their game more and more but we train so much and so regularly you learn from each other in training,” he said.
“You are learning from one another even if it’s not the one you’re regularly playing with. I think the gaffer here especially likes to mix it up a bit to keep everyone fresh and on their toes and it’s been working for us so far so you can’t really criticise it.”

I've got 70/1 on you for L1 top scorer but you need a hat-trick or two please! :-)
===.
I'm confident that Collins and Willo will start hitting the back of the net again regularly - only recently it got going and then all of the postponements and awful pitches in between happened - not many of the other top scorers are free scoring at the moment either.
....
Let's hope for one or two more results today like Tranmere's last night!!

He blazed it over the bar when a colleague was there at the far post for a tap in.
