LR, you literally have said exactly what I was going too. As you mentioned we now know what the hold up is, obviously the special dispensation for Jed had to addressed and they've come up with a couple of issues with that.
It would also seem Black still holds 23% in the club, even if their holding company is wound up. So knowing 4 have been approved is more than we knew yesterday, but still don't understand why they can't say what name the concortium will go under and who they are. Don't see any logical reason for that, we knew all about Fitton and his group long before anything was agreed with Sir Seeton.

The delay with not being allowed to make loan signings will work to our advantage if we have to go through the play-offs, as I believe in this transfer window no loanees can sign for more than 3 months, so anybody signed by 31st Jan are not available after 30th April.. First time for a while nearly all our players are ours and not on loan (exception is Adam Rooney). Wonder if he will start today or recall for Collins.

Good point about loan players OTR. The longer we can field a settled side made up of our own players, the better. Sadly we'll never again see a Swindon team comprised mostly of local boys who've come through the ranks, but fielding a team of our own players is the next best thing.

True to form,just enjoying my Maccies breakfast (perfect start to a match day) when I get a load of lip from some Reading fans for wearing my Swindon cap. Hopefully we will be playing them next season!!!

I agree to a point Den, it is always great to be able to field a settled side, especially if they are all our own players, but I do like the idea of the odd new face to freshen things up and in our position the loan signings do just that.

Good point from OTR re the 3 month loan issue as this can cause more problems than it solves.

Extremely sorry to hear of your financial difficulties but these are very hard times for us all and to be fair there are thousands in the same trap but do hope your fortunes turn and same for the many others. Thank you for those kind words but it's more about having to prioritise where the money goes. Two young boys and a student nurse wife, combined with a hefty mortgage takes care of pretty much all our funds these days, but we are hardly poor and there are many in a far worse position than us, so whilst I cannot attend games like I used to, or my wife for that matter, we count our blessings that we have enough money to live on.

My son is also going today, he's being taken by his Grandad, so there's another two non regulars attending, although my son is a junior red, and he's been to about 6 games so far this season. i've only managed 4.
.
As a die hard, it frustrates us as a family that we cannot go every game, but like I said, we have much to be thankful for.

On the other front we also ask those who aren't interested to allow the rest of us to show our feelings in a visual display of support and that equally they don't berate those that are participating.

Excited for the game today, hope we have 10,000 ish. Stayed out of whole debate on consortium and whats happening as like many waiting for the facts. I have heard snippets as i live in the same town as Jed Mcrory but i don't know him so i don't know if what people say are true. Positives i've heard are that he is genuinely a football fan and that he is well connected and could be fairly wealthy people backing him (has links to finance companies). Whilst rich himself compared to most of us he is not super rich. Lots of 'he has his fingers in many pies' comments but you can work that out from google and linked in. Negatives is lots who say they know him (again i've no idea if true) say he is a bit of a rogue and also wouldn't get into something if not money for him, not sure where the money is from STFC though, although if AB is keeping 25% of shares i can only think he is expecting a return at some point??? The common name mentioned as part of the consortium(apologies if others have posted this) is Martin King who owns a string of nightclubs.
I like others will wait for facts to coem out and I am not passing any of this off as truth just what i've heard, i'm staying positive that the love of football is primary motivation and that there are wealthy backers in the group. Now going to concentrate on football matters, COYR!

Good post SAP. I certainly don't object to this demonstration of affection - as long as it's short-lived. There will be people who don't want to stand up; there are probably even people who find it a struggle to do so. They are all entitled to see the game from their seats. My own view is that it's all a bit over the top. While sharing everyone's admiration for PDC, I also believe he has not achieved anything superhuman. His first real test will come when he has to compete on a level playing field with other managers. Let's hope that's next season after we've been promoted.

Back to football, today will be interesting. Hartlepool have had a couple of good results recently and we know any team can beat any other, especially in this league. No pressure on the visitors who I think would be happy with the 1 away point which is seen as a good days work for most away trips. With several 'good' teams coming to the County Ground and getting thumped many Swindon fans already see the points banked; but it may not be that easy.

Hartlepool will most likely line up in a 4-2-3-1 which I would expect to test STFC if they are not on point today. The battle of midfield will today be a key one as Swindon contend with the defensive cover from their 2 defensive midfielders and the support from the advancing 3 which will give them plenty of angles and out-balls when on the attack. Our middle 2 will have their work cut out as will our 2 centre backs keeping the advancing central attacking midfielder in check while not getting pulled out of position creating space for their 2 advancing wide men. Colchester usually play a similar formation so it is good timing really. The team will know their responsibilities but what's good on paper can be more tricky when you have in essence 3 and even 4 attackers switching positions/spaces and also a wing back and defensive midfielders advancing. If we can shut them down early then we can stop them playing the quick touch system people will be surprised a team at the bottom try and play. Whoever starts up front for us will have to be chasing down the centre backs forcing the ball back to the keeper or wide to their full backs - applying pressure or forcing a mistake or long ball effectively bypassing the midfield area where we may be outnumbered. Flint or whoever is playing should win most of these balls over the top all day long. Our 2 wide men will have to again run all game shutting down their full backs. When we can turn over possession we can exploit the space left by their advancing full backs who will have to advance if they hope to have any width in the side as the defensive mids need to stay quite central to prevent a void in the middle and while their wingers will offer some width I'd expect them to be cutting in to offer support to the lone striker or its a long 90 minutes for him. Their playmaker obviously acts in an advanced position and will be looking for space between the lines and playing in the wide men in the channels between the centre backs and full backs. I'd also expect our 1nd striker to drop back a bit making up a bit for our outnumbered midfield. As Williams has pace I'd say he should be further forward looking to take advantage of any holes. Overall I'd expect STFC to come away winners as will undoubtedly studied the individuals in their team and found their weak points. We will press them, turnover possession and capitalise on these errors with quick counter attacks in gaps in the final third. A good Town result against a well drilled but less cultured Hartlepool.

If we hit 10k then I think that speaks volumes. The club doing their bit by slashing prices and 'casual' fans seeing it as good value. This season the singing has been good but I think we need to sing more when we aren't winning 4-0 and not get so frustrated when we play back to Wes or we at a bad pass. 3 points nice but let's not get too down about it if Hartlepool come and play and manage a draw although I can't see it.

Well it has been a s--t few weeks and although this deal looks as if all is ok I guess PATIENCE is needed over the next several days.
Rumours and speculation have been rife and to be honest as the Adver said it is 3 weeks since this all began,seems like 3 years.

This season's £25 for walk in adults was set by the old board. If, as has been stated the new board are football fans it would not surprise me to see the pay on the day admission cut to £19 or £20 for Arkells and DR and £15 for town end for the 7 remaining home games after today. After all looking at the fixtures from now until end of season, there aren't any from the top mix, what better time for a bit of positive marketing to maintain a high attendance and sell the idea to return or become a season ticket holders for next season, especially if we can go all the way that extra support could make all the differance.

Singing for Paolo good but let's not forget Swindon songs for the team.
