DEVIZES put daylight between themselves and their Southern Counties South title rivals with a sixth bonus-point victory in a row on Saturday.

The Saddlebacks’ forwards had the early ascendancy and were rewarded when Lewis Paget opened the scoring, Andy Thompson converting.

Surging back into Dorhcester territory, the home side earned a penalty, which Thompson landed to extend the lead.

After a lull in their pressure, Devizes picked up again just before half time and Paul Kuipers crossed in the corner for a 15-0 interval lead.

They made a good start to the second period as a long throw was taken by Julian Taylor at the back of a lineout and he touched down after a driving maul.

Good interplay between the backs and forwards, saw hooker John Angell run up the wing from 20 metres out to score the bonus point try.

Luke Weller collected a chip and chase to dive on the bouncing ball by the posts after a well-worked lineout, converted by Jon Bowden, to get Dorchester on teh board.

But Devizes responded brilliantly though and scored their fifth try, a real team effort with a mis-pass putting Chris Holloran over.

With Jorge Wadman sin-binned for the home side, Carl Mitchell scored twice for Dorchester in the latter stages.
