The city’s two university football teams meet tonight, but the best action could be in the technical area as Oxford United’s coaching staff go head-to-head.

U’s assistant manager Mickey Lewis (pictured) coaches Oxford University, with James Peterson, the club’s group sales officer, acting as his No 2.

On the other side of the fence, Oxford Brookes’ side are coached by Dan Bond, United’s video analyst.

Peterson (known as JJ), who is into the final year of a sport and coach studies degree at Brookes, is looking forward to taking on Bond’s side.

He said: “It definitely adds a bit of spice.

“I’m going to be giving Bondy stick for the entire match. I’m expecting it to be a battle of the technical areas.”

Bond, whose side conceded a late goal to lose the reverse fixture 2-1 earlier this season, is keeping his cool.

He said: “I think we’re going in as underdogs, but they’re definitely up for the game.

“Because it’s against Mickey and JJ it makes it a bit more personal for me.”

The game kicks off at Iffley Road at 7pm.
