SWINDON TOWN: Boss targets a positive start
6:00am Tuesday 29th January 2013 in Sport By Sam Morshead
Town boss Paolo Di Canio
PAOLO Di Canio is wary of the threat Leyton Orient pose this evening, and he has ordered his Swindon Town players to rush out of the traps in a bid to overwhelm their hosts.
Orient are looking to do the double over Town, having won the corresponding fixture at the County Ground 1-0 back in September, and Di Canio expects the hosts to provide a stern test for his players once again tonight.
After a 10-day break from competitive action, the Italian does not want to see Swindon put in a slovenly performance in the opening 20 minutes - where he thinks the game will be won or lost.
“They (Orient) have come from two very good results,” he said.
“The last two games they did very well, four points in two games in only a few days.
“Obviously they have a match in their legs but my concern is, like when he had a period when we couldn’t play during the Christmas period and we played Portsmouth, we start slowly. I don’t want to risk this,” he said.
“I have focused my players’ attention in the last few days to start quickly and fast because otherwise it can be difficult.
“We know that it’s not the best surface to play on even a normal day and also they have got value, they are a good team.
“We saw what happened in here, with (Lee) Cook and (Martin) Rowlands.
“There are good values in this team.
“In one match any side can damage you but if we go there and play our football straight away, at the end I’m sure we’ve got the chance to win.”
