SWINDON TOWN: Storey desperate for new contract

Town's Miles Storey
MILES Storey has stated his intention to win a new contract at Swindon Town, saying: “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else”.
The striker’s one-year deal with the club will expire this summer, and though discussions have not started regarding any potential extension to his stay in Wiltshire, the 19-year-old has stressed that he is determined to earn a prolonged spell with the Robins.
Following his recovery from a medial ligament injury, the 19-year-old has found himself at the back of a long line of striking talent at the County Ground. Luckily for Storey, Town boss Paolo Di Canio assigns as much importance to his players’ performances in training to their matchday efforts, and therefore the youngster has an open avenue to prove he is worthy of a new deal in SN1.
And the product of the club’s academy plans to do his utmost to secure revised terms with Swindon.
“It’s up in the summer so we’ll just have to wait and see and hopefully I can earn myself another contract that way,” he said.
“(The injury) does make it frustrating because I want to try to earn myself a contract for my own future, in a selfish, personal kind of way, but at the same time it’s great to see the lads scoring game in, game out.
“It’s great to see the hard work paying off. You think maybe later on in my career that will be me, so I just have to wait to take my chance. I’m not too frustrated but at the same time you want to impress and get yourself another contract.
“If I got the chance I’d love to stay here. It’s a club on the up and if we keep playing like this then we’re going to be promotion contenders - whether that’s automatic or play-offs - especially if our home form stays as good as it is and the away form is just as good.
“We could be in the Championship next year and who knows. It’s a great club, a lot of history and I wouldn’t really want to be anywhere else.
“He (Di Canio) takes a lot of interest in how players are training and in that sense it is a positive. If you are training well then you get your opportunities, but at the same time if you’re not training well you understand that that’s why you’re not involved in the squads. It’s nothing to do with anything else.
“It’s nothing to do with my age, I’ve just got to train well and try to get in the team another way.”

When the injuries and suspensions start coming through in the next 2/3 months then your opportunity will come. I've no doubt you'll grab it with both hands (or should that be feet?!)

I can remember watching Miles debut against Oldham after Hart left and Bodin was placed in charge of the first team. He was a breath of fresh air and a rare spark of hope at the end of a poor season. The boys got talent and just needs minutes on the pitch. Sign him up please, I don't want to lose him the same way we lost Billy!

Let's hope he gets a cameo on Saturday once we're 3-0 up! :-)
