THE SAM MORSHEAD COLUMN: Turf war over dugout was barmy

The broken away dugout at Dean Court
ORIGINALLY I was going to fill this column with 500 words about a piece of Perspex, which when you think about it is quite frankly ridiculous.
However, given the uproar after my tweeted picture of the accidentally smashed dug-out at Dean Court hurtled round cyberspace at an alarming speed last weekend, it seemed daft to leave the hot topic alone.
Such has been its remarkable draw that I’ve even had Soccer AM on the email during the week asking for permission to use the image in their show this morning. Jokes about Perspextive aside, this was another example of Twitter gone mad.
Within seconds of posting the picture, somewhat naively in the hope that it might draw a few light-hearted comments and gentle jibes, the social networking site was filled with irrational fury and troubled angst.
A turf war started by a £25 broken sheet of plastic; it was barmy. Totally barmy.
I for one am thankful that there are other, more important events, on which to comment this week.

Others were seen to have a glazed expression while Paolo went to great 'pane' to distance himself from the event.
