6000 gate at best could lose quite a bit of revenue on this game. Problems are going to be getting to the game and home again. Elf and safety will have the biggest say in our game. Games off at this stage will do the takeover no good as I am sure Andrew Black will not want to put any more funds in and we could be in trouble next month.

I was there on a Saturday morning trying to clear 2 inches off the pitch a couple of years ago and it was too much of a mammoth task, so clearing 6 inches is near an impossibility.

The rocket science 1 is to call the game off at the earliest offortunity without causing inconvenience to the opponents and their supporters travelling. Afterall, I would not like to get part of the way to the ground tomorrow knowing that it has a low percentage of being played.

Rocket science 2: Get to the ground and clear it yourself rather that slate the people out there in the sub zero temperatures.

Am guessing they stopped volunteer work due to it still snowing?...could they not have helped on the pitch..or are they leaving the snow on to help protect against frost overnight?

Shovels and Wheelbarrows at the Ready

Following received from the club marketing team.
---.
The Match Referee will be performing a pitch inspection tomorrow morning at The County Ground for 8am.

In the meantime Club Staff are busy clearing snow from the pitch, there is a call out for volunteers to help with this fairly sizeable task; so if you are able to help please report to The County Ground as soon as possible with a shovel (and a wheelbarrow). If you cannot make it, then please spread the word.

Well done to all involved for the effort but isn't going to happen. Its still snowing and getting worse so its not going to be massively reduced by tomorrow. Meaning buses unlikely to be running and people unlikely to want to travel. Even if they get it on by clearing pitch and surrounding area it would likely be a very low attendance barring a sunny miracle overnight

Wrong on some accounts !

I WAS at Carlisle and was also in the ground when the fans arrived on the buses just before half time and have seen over 600 games home and away in a row and I would have been at the CG clearing the snow (travelling up from Chippenham) if I am not working until 10 tonight.

As for the rest, I admit I am wrong and apologise for that, and I agree that its flogging a dead horse when still snowing heavily.

And I totally agree - What is the point of clearing the surrounding areas when the pitch is unplayable (covered in snow)

yeah !! The title changed as I was typing the message.

I can be at the ground at 6.30 in the morning to help clear the snow.

As much as I think this game has not got much chance, the club have the ambition.

Also with the fixture backlog already mounting up with Orient and Colchester already re-arranged, further postponements are also a strong possibility.

1) If MK Dons win their FA Cup 4th Round match our away game there is off

2) If Crewe get to Wembley in the Paint Pot our home game against them the day before is also off.

What are you talking about that we can't play good football in these conditions, the pitch is covered and as long as ice or frost hasn't set in the pitch will be as good as it always is.If the games is called off it is more likely to be called off by H&S because of surrounding streets etc

In fairness to Mark his comments don't make him a bell end.
1. 5,000+ attendees are season ticket holders so already paid.
2. A lot of fans will already have their tickets in advance and will keep them until its rearranged.
3. The caterers rent the space and they will pay
so yes some footfall lost and beers, programmes on the day but not a huge disaster.
