ANDY Williams’ late goal at Bournemouth ensured Town’s near two-month unbeaten record remained intact.

Unfortunately the weather played a huge part last Saturday and ruined a potentially great match between two of the best sides in League One.

As much as Williams’ strike earned the point, an incredible save from Wes Foderingham was just as important.

Ever since Paolo Di Canio somehow managed to convince then-Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freeman to sell Foderingham to Town, he’s been by far the club’s most consistent performer.

I’m surprised and thankful that so far we’ve not had any offers for the talented youngster.

But with great keepers in short supply, it can’t be too long until the club’s resolve will be tested.

So far it’s been a very quiet start to the transfer window at the County Ground.

Due to the club having to spend a large chunk of the transfer budget on getting the transfer embargo lifted in November, any permanent deals look very unlikely this month.

Through the exit door, we’ve had John Bostock returning to Spurs, Oliver Risser leaving the club and Lee Cox, Luke Rooney and Paul Benson all trying to be moved on this month.

The money that was spent on paying them can go towards a few new players joining on loan.

Due to Town’s Christmas schedule being wiped out, the club now faces a daunting prospect over the next few weeks, playing four away games in a row after this Saturday.

Every club in the country has a certain period in their season that decides where they end up in late April.

If Town can take at least nine points from those four games we could potentially see Di Canio’s side comfortably sit in top spot.

Struggles and the promotion dream could end, leaving the club sitting in mid-table.

Before that, on Saturday it’s Shrewsbury Town at the County Ground.

Graham Turner’s men may sit 18th in League One but they have been on an unbeaten run which started at the same time as Town’s in early December.
