IT SEEMS only yesterday that I was saying how great it was to be a Town fan and that all was positive. How things couldn’t get any better and that the club we’ve been through some pretty awful times with seems to be sorting itself out.

Well, that was a year ago, when I stopped being a pessimist where STFC are concerned.

There are those who will tell you that my new role as Mr Confident did slip briefly on the coach to Oldham. To be honest, it felt rather good to travel back into the world of despondency regarding our beloved red and whites. But typically of Swindon they went and won and soon put an end to my pre-festive humbug. Such party poopers, aren’t they?

So what about how we feel as Town supporters now?

I don’t know about you but I feel as though I’ve slipped into some kind of parallel universe. How else do you explain a side that’s scored 16 goals in four games without reply? What other reason can there be for the sort of total domination we saw against Carlisle?

I was relieved when half-time came around just so I could turn my neck in another direction. Players who are on loan here seem to want to stay and play for us and that’s another sign that things are going well.

Its breathtaking stuff. Our Swindon, yes OUR Swindon are the most in form team in Europe. Bonkers, just beautifully bonkers.

For me it was summed up by one incident against the Cumbrians. Nathan Thompson, man of the match for me, ran the full length of the County Ground in an effort to get on the scoresheet. It encapsulated effort, desire and the sheer enjoyment of being on a football pitch. It was a wonderful moment.

That, allied to the McCormack-Ritchie-Williams triumvirate for the third goal and the magical skill of Williams for the first, made for a very special Saturday.

I don’t know of one Swindon supporter who can’t wait for the next game to come along. Whatever the future brings, right now is a wonderful time in our club’s history. Enjoy it, there’s magic in the air.
