BOWLS: Ladies eye trophy date

NORTH Wilts Ladies went into the New Year as the only side from the Chippenham-based club still running in a national indoor team championship event.

Winners of the Yetton Trophy in 2008 they will be seeking to extend their run in this season’s event and book a place in the last 16 of the competition when they face Taunton Deane today (2pm) in a fourth round tie.

In the last round three weeks ago against Clarrie Dunbar, the two rinks playing at Westcroft produced big victories with Janet Hardie’s foursome winning by 24 shots and Fizz Mace’s quartet registering a 22 shot success.

Wilts make one change to those two rinks with Kath Lloyd, who was unavailable, returning at number three for Fizz Mace in place of Irene Button.

Button switches to number three in the away rink skipped by Sue Cooke in place of Val Molton.

Ann Roberts-Phare, who was away on holiday, returns as lead in Jean Collier’s rink with Evelyn Tape moving back to the reserves bench.
