TWO weeks of rest and recuperation has Miles Storey buzzing ahead of the festive period.

Without a game last Saturday following their first-round exit in the FA Cup, Town’s players have enjoyed and endured a fortnight of fitness work with manager Paolo Di Canio - and Storey says the squad have benefited massively from it.

The Robins have seven games packed into the space of 28 days between tomorrow’s clash with Doncaster and the visit of Carlisle on January 5 - a daunting prospect but one Storey is convinced he and his teammates could not be better prepared for.

“I think we’ve built up our fitness for the last two weeks because we didn’t have a game after Notts County,” he said.

“We’ve worked really hard and done a lot of fitness work.

“I think that will help us in the Christmas period because it’s game after game after game. You don’t really get a break but being as fit as we are I think we’re going to come through well this Christmas.

“I think it sets us up well to win a lot of games.

“The fitness work has really helped us out and then get got a bit of a break, we got two days off, and that was needed.

“We came back Monday and we’ve worked hard. As I’ve said, there’s a lot of games in the next three or four weeks and the fitness we’ve done in the last week is really going to help us out and being in the festive spirit will help us out as well.”
