Devera at left back will be a mistake. The man must play in central defence where he is playing brilliantly even if Williams has to fill in there.

The makeshift back 4 I would think will be Thompson, Flint, Ward & Devera, the report never mentioned Miller and Navarro as not being available, I would be surprised if Howard started, but not surprised if one or both the fore mentioned are included. Personally would still go with Ferry and Bostock, but Paolo might think that they're a bit light weight and similar in style to have both playing at the same time, unless he has no choice of course.

Is Roberts going to get another chance?? Paolo was highly critical of an unnamed player after the Brentford game, gary fits the bill based on everyones expectations. he will probably start with Ritchie on the other flank and a choice of any 2 from 3 from Williams, Collins and Martin.

One thing for sure our home form has been dire, which seems to have coincided with Paolo trying to play a more direct game which unfortunately has resulted in hoof ball and head tennis being the style of play that has suited the opposition more than us. I do agree with Paolo the only game we have been taken apart was Preston, for the rest, we should have got something out of it even though as a team we have only seen our potential in glimpses we are capable of raising our game against the better opposition.

Here's hoping for decent officals tomorrow, by that I don't mean bias, but consistent with their decisions, which is not something we have seen too much of at the County Ground this season.

Spot on Darren. Results speak for themselves. If we are going to say we didn't deserve to lose many of those games, maybe we should also examine all the games we won and decide whether we really deserved to win? We would probably find that the opposition thought they didn't deserve to lose some of those games. But none of it matters. The table doesn't lie.

To many changes each game have lost us points.....down to you PDC

Yes, is a silly comment to make. (may be a taken out of context issue in his defence) but scoring is part of the game too Paolo. Here's hoping for proper football tomorrow rather than route one Sunday League at Mannington wreck style.

I think Raffaill star at left midfield to help cover the L/ B. Not sure if Flint will come back in as he's considered a little rash in the tackle by Paolo, I feel it will be Archie .

Disagree with PDC here over the 3 home games,each were deserved.
Colchester United,Leyton Orient and Brentford were all really poor but unfortunately we were worse.
Nothing to fear in this league at all and this is where i agree with PDC in that the side need to get themselves sorted mentally.

Bad luck is to blame this week. Last time it was the Board. Before that the players. It's a blame game. Everyone except the manager.

Problem usually can be found between chair and input interface device.

Where we have been playing well or don't deserve to get beaten, the main problem , that has been pointed out many times is our lack of ability to convert the chances we create.

The amound of times we get into scoring positions is commendable, it means we can play well, break down an opposition, and then ....

We Fluff Our Lines....

Its goals that win matches, and thats all that counts at the end of the day. Losing 1 nill or 4 nill, don't matter .... still lost the 3 points.

We need to convert a few more of the chances we create.

Just get the ball in the net.!!!

Best home performance for me was MK Dons at home where we played them off the park and won by playing football on the floor. We got the ball to the wide men early and for me were not getting the wide men involved enough early on as were launching too many hopeful balls up the middle where its food and drink for the opposing centre backs.

Lets get back to what were good at play at a high tempo and two and three touch football and put the opposition on the back foot from the first whistle.

We need a win tomorrow and with our extended rest i looking for a good performance and three points.

A tough game is in prospect for us as they are on a good run but i dont fear any team in the league. Sheff Utd to me were not a good team nor Brentford but they both know how to defend and keep clean sheets and as has been said already the chances we need to create we have to put away as its happenning every game now where we miss some decent chances to score.

Spot on....we've made more chances but don't get the crucial 1st goal...once we get ahead at home the other team have to come at us more which helps but I am getting fed up with the longer ball game.

Sadly I don't see a positive result coming out of tomorrow...but REALLY hope I'm wrong.

Can't agree with Paolo here, there are several games we lost that we fully deserved to lose (e.g. Orient etc) and some that we didn't lose that we probably deserved to have done (e.g. Coventry, great last quarter of an hour, rubbish the rest of the game). Ultimately though "deserving" to win or lose is irrelevant. If you think you deserve to win because you created loads of chances and the opposition didn't, that's nonsense - it's all about takin the chances. If we squander twenty and the other team nicks it with their one of the game, fair play to them, they've played to their strengths.

I'm all for Paolo, however this argument is not only flawed based on the performances we've seen, it's also pointless as whether we deserved to win lose or draw, it's the result that matters.

Over the course of the season, we as all teams, will finish where we deserve to be. Let's make sure it's somewhere near the top, if not then no amount of "we deserved to be in the top six" will matter.

Don't agree with Paolo that we only deserved one defeat. When we employ the sam long ball tactic for 90 minutes where the forwards win about 1 header all game, and we pick up virtually no second balls, how do we deserve to win?

The good news though is there is all to play for. Our goals for and goals against are roughly the same as throughout the top 10 in the league, and all these teams are in with a shout of promotion.

Doncaster have W7 D2 L1 on the road, so are dangerous, but looks like they will have a go tomorrow so hopefully will be a better game than the Sheff Utd and Brentford games, we tend to play better against more adventourous teams.

Agree about getting behind the team but why the pessimism? Cheer up, it could be a 1-0 win! I'd be quite happy to take a point from tomorrow, they're a team on a very good run of form, but who knows, we may yet have the beating of them.

Good post LeGod but I disagree on Sheff U and Brentford. I thought Wilson's boys were unnecessarily scared of us. They played with the shackles on, content with a draw, while we busted a gut to get a win. I think their point could easily have been a comfortable win if they'd taken a more positive approach. Brentford looked a tight unit and they tried to play it out from the back. If we played football as effectively as that, especially away from home, I think we'd all be delighted.

My overall feeling at the moment is that PDC still doesn't know his best team - nor even how he really wants us to play - while a number of sides above us have settled into a pattern. I hope it all starts to change tomorrow with a display of composed football, instead of the long ball stuff, which not only has been as dull as ditchwater but has also been largely ineffective. Ughh!

I full expect this break to have a monumental effect on our season. We had a jam packed 1st half of the season and now this extended break will have allowed for some of the more tired guys to get a bit extra fuel in the tank in the run through Christmas.

Time to push on, starting with 3 points tomorrow!

Dare I mention that the one game that PDC thinks we deserved to lose is the one that he threw into total disarray by taking off Fodders after 20 minutes?

Respectively, perhaps not an inspired substitution... but I'm not expecting any acknowledgement from the boss that he may have contributed to the outcome.

Fodders was having a shocker, we were playing horribly before he came off. You can hardly blame the loss on the fact that Fodders came off!

Anyone thought that this might just be Paolo installing confidence in his players before a big run of games over the Xmas period? We only deserved to lose one game, you played we'll but we didn't take our chances. Confidence confidence confidence, don't worry your doing a good job. Of we go....

Anyway not that anyone will listen but we I've said all along the time to worry is if we don't create. Yes it would be great of one of the front men had ten goals already but Collins is 21 and Willo scored 17 for Yeovil last night. Let's get some positive thinking in here.

MK Dons had a severely depleted team that day and couldn't fill the bench plus were down to 10 men for 50 minutes - but I take your point.

IMO better home performances were against Crawley, Bournemouth and more recently Yeovil.

Tough game tomorrow and hoping for a win - an early goal (for STFC) would make such a difference and settle everyone, including the supporters, down.

PDC is I believe an inspiration and is a man that deserves success. His passion does at times cause problems as he can act hastily and at times seems to change a winning formula. having said this I still hold him in high regard and believe we will be in the play off position we all hope for.
As for losing so many games by the odd goal well this is annoying but happens. With some luck our forwards will find form and in the second half of the season we may see a complete reversal.
I believe we will get back to our winning ways at home very soon. Keep the faith.
