JOHN Bostock has yet to hold talks regarding a longer stay in Swindon, but the midfielder will go into any discussions with an open mind to either a loan extension or even a permanent switch.

The 20-year-old, out of contract at parent club Tottenham in the summer, has featured eight times since joining the Robins in August and has caught the eye of most Town fans with his brand of attractive, passing football.

In July, former Swindon chairman Jeremy Wray hinted that a move to make Bostock a fixed asset at the County Ground was not out of the question, and the playmaker did not rubbish the idea when it was put to him this week.

However, he stressed that any negotiations would be left to his agent and that none had been opened just yet.

He said: “I leave it completely. It’s out of my hands. If I’m doing it on the pitch then the gaffer will say ‘look John, we’ve got a plan for you and we want to keep you’. At the moment I’ve heard nothing.

“It’s just so good to see how it’s turned around for me. At the moment I’m not doing fantastic but it’s great to be in the team and as the gaffer says ‘be a protagonist’.

“I’m closer there then I was a few weeks ago.

“I think if I’m playing and the gaffer has a plan for me here then yes, I would see why Swindon would be a good place to be.

“I’ve enjoyed it here, the fans have been fantastic and when I’m playing I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s a great set of lads and although it’s completely different to anything I’ve experienced. I think it is getting the best out of me or a lot more out of me than other clubs have managed to get out of me in the past.

“I think it’s good for me to be here but maybe it’s a bit too early to say whether I’m going to be here permanently. Because nobody’s spoken to me it’s hard to say but I’m always open-minded. When they’re ready to talk I’ll be ready to listen.”

Bostock, whose deal at Town expires on January 7, is trying to forget that his current contract runs out in eight months’ time.

He said: “I’ve been thinking about it a bit more recently because time goes so quickly. It was September the other week and now it’s almost Christmas. Games come thick and fast and before I know it my loan will probably be up.

“I’ve thought about it but I haven’t given it too much thought. No one has spoken to me so I’m just enjoying playing.

“If I keep playing then the right people will be interested.”
