ADIE Harris is in no doubt that Chippenham Town will soon start to claw their way up the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division table.

The Bluebirds are currently 16th in the table after Tuesday night’s draw at Barwell and last weekend’s home stalemate against Bedworth United.

Harris has been ever-present in Nathan Rudge’s starting line-up since his move from Bath City last month and the combative midfielder is certain that the Bluebirds are moving in the right direction.

“We’ve been starting to play some really good football and I’m 100 per cent positive that we’ll start to fly up the league once we start winning – winning becomes a habit,” said Harris.

“I’ve been promoted from this league and I know what it takes so I’m sure that we’ll be fine.

“When you start winning in this league, when teams face you they start to drop off and that’ll come.

“Everyone’s positive and pulling in the right direction. It’s a really good bunch of boys who are honest and training is good.

“I’ve got no doubt that we’ll be near the play-offs this season and then next year, with a couple of additions, we’ll be even closer.”

The experienced Welshman came to Hardenhuish Park after four separate spells with Bath but opted to leave City after Lee Howells took over as manager in October.

He added: “I don’t see eye-to-eye with the manager there and that was the way it is. I could have gone to a few other clubs but I agreed to come here.

“I spoke to Rudgey and a couple of the boys that I played with at Bath like Scotty Rogers and Lee Phillips and it was a pretty easy decision.”

Meanwhile Rudge was proud of his side for standing up to the physical challenge of Barwell on Tuesday evening.

The hosts had Luke Barlone sent off in the first half for a kicking on Ashley Williams and the Leicestershire hosts picked up another dismissal following the final whistle as players from both sides clashed after the stalemate.

“The game took me back ten years but I was on the sidelines (after picking up a pelvic injury against Bedworth) and I was proud of my players,” said Rudge.

“Barwell were really physical and it was a niggly game but we stood up to it, even with Adie Harris and Ashley Williams as centre-backs.

“We’re unbeaten in three games now and I think that we’re moving in the right direction.

“It’s just about turning those draws into wins and going on a bit of a run."
