NATHAN Rudge does not expect any more transfer activity at Chippenham Town in the near future.

Josh Egan has left to join to Conference South outfit Weston-super-Mare while Clayton Fortune has also called time on his short spell with the Bluebirds.

But Rudge is not eyeing up replacements for his departed duo as he strives for a settled line-up.

“I don’t see anyone else coming or going at the moment because you can’t keep changing things all the time,” he said.

“We’ll stick with what we’ve got because we need to get a settled side out on the pitch every week.”

Winger Egan, 19, joined from Bath City at the start of the season and netted his only Bluebirds goal against Badshot Lea in the FA Cup last month while former Bristol City man Fortune only managed two appearances after switching to Hardenhuish Park in October.

“Clayton never really got going with us – he only played two games,’’ added Rudge.

“He hasn’t really done anything wrong but it was one of those situations where you had to look at things and do what you’ve got to do.

“With Josh, it’s a bit different. With the way things are at the moment, I didn’t really see him playing every game if I’m totally honest and I know he wanted to play week in, week out.

“He’s a good footballer and if we could play every week on a pitch like Cheltenham’s then he’d be the first name on the teamsheet.

“But he’s a small lad and how heavy the pitches are getting at the moment wouldn’t be right for him.

“He didn’t want to wait for things to change, so I wish him all the best at Weston and hope that he gets to play as much as he wants to over there.”
