SWINDON TOWN: Patey discusses Di Canio meeting

Sir William Patey Sir William Patey

SWINDON Town chairman Sir William Patey has said he enjoyed a good meeting with manager Paolo Di Canio yesterday evening.

Patey stressed that the talks were the first in what will become a regular series of discussions with Di Canio as he gets a detailed understanding of the club.

"There’s no big deal about the meeting, we’d set this up for ages. It’s basically for me to have a dialogue with Paolo," he told the Advertiser.

“There’ll be lots of meetings between Paolo and me - that’s the nature of the thing. I’m the new chairman, I’m trying to understand the club and all its aspects both football and financial.

“When there’s particular news, we’re an open club, we understand the fans’ intense interest in what’s going on and when there’s anything to report we’ll in touch.”

Hear more from Sir William Patey in tomorrow's Swindon Advertiser.

Just what I thought. I understood from the radio that this meeting was to discuss the embargo.
Is this the end of transparency ?

What does transparency mean..
Its nothing to do with wearing womens cloths is it??

....I REALLY don't trust this guy or the motives behind his appointment.
---.
His background screams 'Sell sell sell' whilst being clever enough to disguise his moves and manipulate PDC with a load of airy fairy speak....what has he actually said?....I need to learn about the club and football....and we'll have lots more meetings!?
---.
I had a certain favourite of ours sat behind me on Tuesday and he is still suffering but equally he is concerned for PDC.
===.
I haven't changed my stance or suspicions but I REALLY hope I'm wrong

Where has all this talk about the Saudi Billionaire gone then it seemed to be gathering a little pace the other day and has gone all quiet. Spill the beans Paolo tell us about the meeting. BBC wilts had this meeting down as a possible lifting of the embargo not that I think we need it lifting as we seem to have many options all over the pitch and there are no more cup tied players. The only weak link I see is at Left back where J Mac has been very poor recently.

I think I have totally lost the plot now??

Sir William says this was the FIRST of a regular series of meetings with PDC, but PDC previously said on here that they had a meaningful and positive meeting last week??

Hi Mike,

The rumour about the Billionaire was on the rumours site and its been doing the rounds. I'm a bit surprised that Louis didn't come up with more on it earlier. I heard about it so looked in all the papers and on the Beeb, then Looked on the dreaded rumours and there it was.

I tend to agree to a point with SAPFan, but the take on the meeting I got was he was keeping our manager up to speed with what ever is going on behind the scenes. As usual we will have to wait and see.
A couple of additional players in January will freshen things up, just watch this lot go, another unbeaten run with a bit of luck.

Hi Wiz how are you my friend. Yes the meeting should come out over the next few days or weeks would have been nice to have been a fly on the wall. Was it this time last year the Town really took off on that unbeaten run and really upped their game. I can sense things coming together especially with the two young lads Thompson and Storey coming to the party in fine style. Great to have Williams back though he is pure class and works his socks off. Benson has indicated to me his level may well be at Lg 2 as he has struggled this season and has been pushed about far too easily. Not sure if we need any new players it would be nice just to have fit players and feel Bostock could be just the one to take this team forward after his showing at Stevenage. Looking forward to the arms folded brigade next week and that should give us a clue where we are at present.

If we can get three points next week irrelevant of who we are playing it will do the whole squad a pile of good and will serve to bolster any confidence issues.
I wouldn't under estimate DW though, he has his lot playing well right now, and I suspect would have gone up last year if his star striker had kept things zipped up. Anyway thats life and we must look forward.

Town End reception for DW could be interesting though. LJ-F is out injured though.
