RUGBY: Sherborne 40 Corsham 18

A DOUBLE injury blow curtailed Corsham’s hopes of overturning the league leaders.

Winger Tom Bush suffered a fractured shoulder while making a tackle moments after kick-off and lock Dave Pritchard had to leave the field with a suspected broken rib early in the second half.

Despite reshuffling the pack Corsham opened the scoring through Pete Hynes’ converted try.

Sherbourne hit back with two tries, sandwiching an Andy Williamson drop goal to lead 14-10 at half-time.

The loss of Pritchard then handed the initiative to the hosts and they bossed the second period, although Milner did add a consolation try.

Coach Dan Jeffries said: “Once we lost key players and had to reshuffle we were just unable to get the consistency to compete with Sherbourne as they were so sharp in the contact area.”
