Halloween gangs attack police

A group of up to 90 youths went on the rampage in Calne last night as Halloween fun got out of hand.

A number of small fires were lit and fireworks set off. Eggs were thrown at police, buildings, cars and passers-by.

Officers dispersed the troublemakers who had gathered in the Pippin car park in Calne, at the rear of the Somerfield supermarket.

A number of arrests were made for public order offences and further inquiries will be undertaken to identify ringleaders, police say.
