Corsham rocked by Bush resignation

POTENTIAL Corsham Town investor Gary Lock says the club need to regroup before he considers putting any money in.

Following the resignation of manager Colin Bush on Friday, the club has been thrown into uncertainty with chairman John Gingell saying he may quit as well.

Former Corsham defender Lock, who last week said he would be prepared to inject a four figure sum into the club, will now wait to see how the situation unfolds.

"They are talking about possible relegation and the chairman resigning so they have got to sort themselves out first," said Lock, who runs Rugged Technologies in Corsham.

"We are interested to help them push forward but it does not seem very positive for them. It is looking like the Southern League is going to be a thing of the past."

Friend and another ex-Corsham player Steve Herbert would also be involved in any deal Lock struck with the club.

The 45-year-old admitted having contact with secretary Richard Taylor but would not discuss anything further.

Ex-reserve team boss Tommy Dryden, rumoured to be on the club's managerial shortlist of four names, has ruled himself out of the running, claiming his side Malmesbury Victoria had more ambition.

"I have no intention of going there, I like the club, but they have done all they can," he said.

"They have won the league and you would just be there filling the manager's role.

"We still have the league to win and can go up. There are a lot more things on offer at Malmesbury for me than at Corsham."

Chairman Gingell, who will meet with the committee on Monday to discuss the future, said: "We are not looking at player-managers, just managers, but no contact has been made yet."
