GRAHAM Norris, 83, a lifelong resident of Wootton Bassett, was remembered by a large congregation at his funeral in St Barthlomew's Church, where the Rev Rachma Abbott officiated.

Graham, the only son of Enid and Jack Norris, was born in New Road in 1933 and was educated at the National School. His working life began in the railway works in Swindon. He did National Service in the RAF, and and later was employed at Westinghouse, Chippenham, as a draughtsman. After early retirement, Graham and his wife Sheila ran a local business, The Wool Shop and Dry Cleaners, in the High Street.

Graham enjoyed involvement in many sports, including athletics, cricket, football, table tennis, snooker, tennis and bowls. He played football for Swindon Town for a time, and was a member of the Wootton Bassett FC team when the late Percy Stone was its manager.

Mr and Mrs Norris, who celebrated their diamond wedding in August 2016, had a son Stephen, daughter Julie and two grandchildren Amy, who lives in Swindon, and Stuart, a doctor at a Bristol hospital.
