Caring and devoted mother Emma Fisher has died suddenly aged 41.

Mrs Fisher, nee Drewitt, suffered an asthma attack on February 2 and was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, by ambulance but did not recover and died two days later. She had had asthma all her life but it had been controlled by medication.

Mrs Fisher, of Phoenix Rise, Westbury, was a night carer at a residential home run by Homes Caring for Autism near Yarnbrook.

She and her husband, Dave Fisher, had two sons, Nathan, ten, and Alfie, five, and Mrs Fisher was stepmother to Keah, 11.

Mrs Fisher also had three children, Shayne, 19, Dayna, 18, and Kieren, 15, with her first husband, Adrian Hiscock. They lived in Trowbridge and Melksham.

Mrs Fisher was born and brought up in Devizes, attending Southbroom Infants School, Wansdyke Primary School and Devizes School. While she was at Devizes School she was in the Army Cadets which met at the former TA centre in Church Walk and she particularly enjoyed an adventure trip to Cornwall.

After she left school she worked in the office of Swinton Insurance which was near Wadworth Brewery in Devizes. She got married for the first time at the age of about 19 and her jobs including working at Swinton Insurance in Trowbridge and the George Inn at Lacock.

She had many friends, including on Facebook. Her hobbies including crocheting and basket weaving.

Her parents, Colin and Jane Drewitt, of Woodland Way, Devizes, said they had received many cards from people who knew Emma.

Mr Drewitt said: “She gave freely of her time to others. In her job she worked with autistic adults and she was quite a patient person. She enjoyed crocheting and everybody she knew got something she crocheted at Christmas.”

Mrs Drewitt said: “Emma loved her family life and her children. Her daughter has just been provisionally accepted at university in Falmouth, Emma would have been very proud. With all the children there was always a party being held every month.”

Mrs Fisher was also close to her younger brother, Simon, who lives in Devizes, and his children.

Her funeral service is on Monday at St John’s Church, Devizes, at noon. Her family have asked for donations in her memory to go to Asthma UK c/o John Stuart Funeral Directors, Devizes.
