Plans by former media tycoon Eddy Shah to build more holiday homes at his golf complex in Wootton Bassett were last night turned down by North Wiltshire District Council.
But Mr Shah is now planning to go to appeal. He said: "I was disappointed by the refusal on our planning for extra holiday homes in Wootton Bassett.
"The truth is that we have had only three objections out of eleven thousand people who live in Wootton Bassett. One of those objectors has admitted that he based his objections on conjecture and has since
stated he did so. I am proud to have brought tourists and income to Wootton Bassett. I still believe we have a strong part to play in the community in creating more jobs and more tourism.

" One of the objectors asked 'Why should someone come to Wootton Bassett?' It's a shame they don't believe in their town. We're going to a full appeal because we want to prove that Wooton Bassett, and the surrounding area, is somewhere people should be proud to live in and proud to visit."
