MP meets local unions
 |
| Michael Wills, MP for North Swindon meets with Union representatives |
Michael Wills, MP for North Swindon met Swindon TUC and members of other local unions last Friday to commemorate International Workers' Memorial Day on 28 April.
Workers' Memorial Day is an event organised by unions to commemorate workers killed or injured at work, which are too often caused by negligence on the part of employers.
At the meeting, the unions discussed their concerns about enforcement and inspection of Health and Safety regulations including the 11% increase in fatalities of workers on the job in the last year.
Michael said:
I was pleased to have been invited to the Worker's Memorial Day event. I hope that the union members felt the discussion about worker's rights and Health and Safety regulations and inspections was useful.
All workers have the right to a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace and I will take the concerns raised today to the Health and Safety Executive and I encourage any employee in Swindon who feels their heath and safety is being compromised at their workplace to get in touch with their unions, or my office to make sure their concerns are addressed properly.'

"International Workers' Memorial Day "
Rather apt, as D-D-D-DITHERER BROWN and his cronies entangle and strangle British industry with more and more directives from the non-elected bureaucrats in Brussels -- soon all that British workers have will be memories!
