A draw, with two festive hampers, was the main attraction of the Arthritis Research Christmas coffee morning at Church Croft where £311 was raised for the charity.

Regional organiser Jenny Oakshott thanked Liz and Jeremy Taylor who donated the hampers, and individuals who who gave additional prizes. The grand draw was made by Town Crier Owen Collier, who announced the hamper winners: Mrs B Brickell and Mr S Richards.

Mrs Oakshott praised the support the charity gets from local people. She spoke about a new centre opened in Notting-ham, to ease the pain of arthritis. She quoted one man on being freed from the pain of rheumatoid arthritis: “It’s like standing in sunshine!” The branch’s next event will be the annual fun quiz, for teams of four at the Civic Centre on March 30 at 7.30pm.
