A MAN will go before magistrates next month after he apparently chewed through a set of police leg restraints.
Duncan Tanguay, 42, of Springfield Crescent, Royal Wootton Bassett, will be appearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court on July 12 to face charges of criminal damage and assaulting a police officer following the incident on Sunday.
A spokesman for Royal Wootton Bassett Community Police Team said: "Police attended an incident on RWB High Street on June 25 where a male was reported to be drunk and shouting, swearing and being abusive towards children, shop assistants and anyone unfortunate to cross his path.
"Police attended the location and the male began to resist arrest and assaulted a police officer whilst carrying out their duties.
"This male also damaged police property by chewing through a pair of leg restraints."
