A DECISION on two contentious planning proposals in Royal Wootton Bassett is due to be made at the end of the month.

The plans, lodged with Wiltshire Council over a year and a half ago, propose to build 320 homes, a supermarket, a nursing home and a ‘community hub’ on land at Marsh Farm.

The proposals have proved deeply unpopular with residents and local elected representatives who have sent council planning officers 557 letters of objection.

A decision had been due at a meeting back in February where planning officers were going to recommend that the committee approve the application but after much discussion, it was decided that the committee members would have to visit the site in person before being able to make a more informed decision.

Following that site visit, members of the strategic planning committee will next meet at County Hall in Trowbridge on April 26 at 10.30am to decide whether to give developers the green light or not.

Anyone wishing to speak at the meeting must make representation before Wednesday to Roger Bishton, of Democratic Services, by calling 01225 713035 or emailing roger.bishton@wiltshire.gov.uk
