A CCTV image of a man police would like to speak about thefts from vehicles has been released.

Police say they have received 31 reports of incidents in Royal Wootton Bassett, West Swindon and Purton since January 1.

Most of the offences have occurred overnight and in residential areas.

A spokesman said: "We would like to speak to the man pictured in connection with the offences.

"He is described as white, approximately 5ft 8ins tall and of slim to medium build. He is believed to be aged mid to late 20s and possibly unshaven.

"He has been seen wearing a dark coloured beanie hat and a dark-coloured waist length rain coat with a full-length zip."

PC Marie Poole, the community co-ordinator for Royal Wootton Bassett, said: "These crimes have a great impact on our community and we are keen to speak to this man in relation to the incidents.

"I'd also like to urge residents to ensure vehicles are locked at all times and valuables are not left in vehicles."
