GOOD causes in Royal Wootton Bassett and Melksham are the latest in the county to benefit from a housing developer's community grant programme.

Persimmon Homes, which has now granted more than £1 million pounds to organisations across the country from their community grant programme, helped support Mad Dog Sport in Melksham and Royal Wootton Basset RFC with grants up to £1,000.

Persimmon’s group CEO Jeff Fairburn, who launched the scheme in March 2015, said: "Our programme supports grass roots community causes in England, Wales and Scotland. To reach £1 million is a fantastic achievement and I am pleased we have supported such worthy causes and vital local services which made a real difference in their communities.

"Our donations do not stop here. The programme continues into 2017 and we’re very much looking forward to supporting even more great causes in the months ahead."

Since launching, the housing developer has supported more than 1,100 causes from Aberdeen to Truro with 28 regional offices and one head office picking two charities each month to support.

The community champion programme also runs alongside the millions of pounds Persimmon gives to local authorities every year as part of planning gains in support of new housing. This is then spent on providing communities with projects, buildings and new schools.
