POLICE are urging tradesmen not to leave work tools in their vans overnight after a spate of thefts in the centre of Royal Wootton Bassett.

Incidents included a works van left in Station Road on August 5 and another parked in Roebuck Close, Woodshaw, the following night which were both tampered with.

Power tools were stolen and damage was done to a van in Claredon Drive on August 30 and tools were taken from a van in Blackthorn Close on Sunday night.

Police are also advising drivers to reverse park onto their driveways if possible, to record all serial numbers of tools to enable police to identify them and to park in front of security lights if installed.
