TWO lanes of the M4 are blocked after a crash eastbound between Junction 15 for Swindon East and Junction 14 for Hungerford.

The crash was thought to involve a lorry and several other vehicles.

Three people were freed by the fire service from a vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment.

Seven ambulances and three rapid response vehicles were at the scene at one point while an air ambulance landed in a nearby field.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said that they were called at just after 3pm and paramedics were still at the scene at 4.30pm.

Highways England says traffic was being delayed in both directions.

By 5pm one lane had reopened, with another still closed, but traffic conditions had returned to normal by 6.30pm.
