STAFF at Imagine Cruising will swap the waves for the clouds this weekend as they take on a daring feat in aid of a cause close to their hearts.

The Royal Wootton Bassett-based cruise experts will take to the skies on Sunday for a tandem skydive in aid of CLIC Sargent having raised more than £2,000 for the charity.

Ticket administrator Lauren Taylor revealed they had been inspired to raise money for the charity as one of their colleagues, Sam Berry - who isn’t able to take part in the jump due to being relocated to Dubai – as his sister, Sarah Fay, worked for the charity as a nurse.

“It is such a good cause – people often think about cancer affecting older people and don’t think about it affecting younger children,” she said.

“As a company we do a lot of charity work for Prospect Hospice too so we were keen to do as much as we could for charity. This idea was brought up at work by Sam and we said we would give it a go.”

Joining Lauren will be Sharnni Wilson, Mollie Woods, Amy Rose, Holly Tremblin and Amanda Barkham, who will be jumping from 15,000 feet above Redlands Airfield, near Wanborough.

Lauren said they were all quite nervous about the task ahead.

“It’s all well and good when you say you are going to do it, but when it comes around to it, it is a different matter,” she said.

“I am really, really nervous, I think it’s the sitting on the edge of the plane and falling that is going to be the worst part, but it is a once in a lifetime experience.”

Helping them along the way with their fundraising efforts has seen the team stage a car boot sale at Dauntsey and a non-uniform day at work with a barbecue and mocktails.

But their biggest fundraising event came on Saturday night at the New Inn in Stratton where they hosted a rock’n’roll bingo session as well as a raffle which saw them raise £575.

Lauren said the team was very grateful to Your Inspired Beauty, Upper Cuts Barber Shop Younique, Amy Kemp’s Eyelash Extensions, Swindon Speedway, Naomi Youd Photography, the Four Pillars Hotel, The Crown Inn, The Tawny Owl, Brake Or Bump Driving School, Bobbi’s Academy Of Dance, Rushmore Golf Club, Karma Beauty, Swindon Wildcats, The Golfing Hole, The Blunsdon House Hotel and Anderson Flowers who had all donated raffle prizes.

“A few of the team are really excited, and others are watching videos on YouTube and getting more scared, I am sure the adrenaline will kick in,” he said.
