People who are concerned about the transformation of Junction 16 of the M4 will be able to find out more information at two upcoming drop-in events.

The multi-million pound upgrade, funded by Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) and the Wichelstowe Joint Venture, is due to start later this summer.

The work will see the roundabout altered, the slip roads widened while traffic signals will be replaced and the drainage improved.

Motorists will be able to talk to the project team at two information sessions on June 29 and July 6.

Cllr Dale Heenan, Swindon Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Sustainability, Highways and Transport, said: "This is a hugely important scheme, which will improve the layout of Junction 16 for existing motorists and ensure we have enough capacity in the future.

"I would encourage motorists, local businesses and nearby residents to pop along to one of the drop-in sessions to find out more information about the improvements and see how the programme is likely to affect them during the course of the work."

The first session will take place at Lime Kiln Leisure Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett on June 29 between 3-7pm and the second session will take place at the NSBRC, Lydiard Fields from noon to 7pm.

The redesign is a requirment of the outline planning permission for the major housing development at Wichelstowe and needs to be completed before the 1,100th property on the site is occupied.

A contracter for the work is expected to be appointed in the next few weeks with the project anticipated to be complete by Spring 2018.
