TWO kind-hearted youngsters on a mission to help endangered snow leopards have organised a charity fundraiser by themselves and raised hundreds of pounds for the cause.

Mya Fullarton and Isabelle Alexander, both aged eight and pupils of Lydiard Millicent Primary School, spent weeks designing their own posters to advertise the event, searching for a venue and writing to businesses to ask if they would donate prizes towards their raffle.

And on Saturday with the help of their families, the event went down a treat with the dozens of people who turned up at The Piggery at Flaxlands Manor Farm in Royal Wootton Bassett.

The girls raised more than £300 for World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and donations are still being collected.

Isabelle’s mum Carrie Alexander said: “They were doing it because Mya adopted a snow leopard for her birthday last year and they decided they wanted to raise more money for the cause.

“They were so sweet and they organised everything. They were bossing us around telling us what we needed to do, they did a fantastic job.

“I was painting nails and Mya’s mum Becky and her nan were selling cakes. Isabelle’s nan was selling cards and we had a raffle.

“There were lots of people and it was so nice. Their friends from school came with their parents too and everybody thought it was really cute.”

During the fundraising morning there was the opportunity to take part in games, indulge in yummy treats and get pampered.

Initially the girls were nervous no one would turn up or they would not raise enough money, but the outdid everyone's expectations and proved they had nothing to worry about.

Carrie, who lives in Braydon, added: “We are so proud of them and they are really proud of themselves.”
