A 78-year-old man has suffered critical injuries after a collision with a car as he walked in Royal Wootton Bassett.
The man was walking in the High Street just before 4pm yesterday before the incident happened.
A police spokesman said: “The pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance, suffering from critical injuries.”
The road was closed while the emergency services dealt with the incident, but was reopened at 8.45pm.
Any witnesses who may have seen the collision, which involved a white Nissan Micra, are asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
