THE M4 westbound was closed near Swindon this morning after a crash involving five cars.
Firefighters, paramedics and police attended the scene of the crash between Junction 16 and 17 shortly after 5.49am.
A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said: “All three lanes were blocked so the road was closed until 6.50am while the vehicles were recovered. There were no serious injuries.”
Firefighters from Wesltlea and Royal Wootton Bassett also attended.
A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were advised by ambulance at 6.01am of a multi-vehicle crash on the M4 westbound between J16 and J17.
“While five cars were involved, there were no entrapments, fortunately, so all we had to do was make the vehicles safe.”
A spokeswoman for the South Western Ambulance Service said they had treated five patients following the crash.
She said: “One patient was taken to Great Western Hospital. We treated two people for minor injuries, one with chest pains, one with neck pain and one walking wounded.”
