PROSPECT Hospice has flagged up a range of fundraising opportunities to consider this summer.

Supporters and fans of equestrianism can enjoy a fabulous dining experience and a day among the legends of eventing at Barbury Horse Trials, on Saturday, July 11.

The Wroughton hospice is set to benefit through a special hospitality deal, and is inviting people to enjoy a two-course summer buffet, including wine, and enjoy watching the biggest names in eventing, and teams led by Zara Phillips and AP McCoy, take part in a special challenge between eventers and jockeys.

The experience costs £50 and also offers VIP parking. All profits from the lunch experience will go to the hospice.

The hospice is also asking people to show off their blooms this summer as part of its annual Open Gardens event.

“Gardens don’t have to be extensive, but they should have features that would be of interest to visitors,” said community fundraiser Amy Francombe.

“I would love to hear from anyone who has an unusual garden, or a garden which has local historical significance, but if you have any garden that people would want to see, then please get in touch.”

You can even limit opening your garden to just your family and friends, she said.

“No matter how big or small your garden is you can still raise funds by opening your garden,” Amy added.

“You could host afternoon tea, a live music event or even put on a mini-fete with stalls and games, even turn your annual family barbecue into a fundraiser by asking people to pay for a plate.

“There are lots of ways to turn your garden into the perfect setting for an enjoyable fundraising event.”

A full list of public Open Garden events will be added to the hospice’s website throughout the summer months.

Meanwhile, for keen bakers, the hospice has launched the Great Prospect Bake-Off.

Bakers are asked to organise their own preliminary bake-offs with friends, family or colleagues, choose their very own Paul and Mary to pick a winner who they can then submit to the finalists’ Bake Off held at Ridgeway School on Sunday, July 19.

Friends and family are welcome to come along to the final to support the bakers and see who will be crowned the 2015 winner.
