Marsh Farm Hotel in Royal Wootton Bassett has been put up for sale with a guide price of £1.5million.

The hotel continues to trade with the assistance of hospitality and leisure industry experts Convivial Group Ltd.

International real estate advisor Savills are handling the sale on behalf of London-based restructuring and insolvency firm Moorfields Corporate Recovery.

Arron Kendall and Simon Thomas of Moorfields Corporate Recovery were appointed joint administrators for Oyster Hotels Ltd, which operated the Marsh Farm Hotel, on February 9.

The 48-bedroom property comprises a Grade II listed country house and sits within two acres of land and is a popular wedding and function venue.

Gary Witham, hotels director at Savills, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to invest in an attractive hotel business which is also an established wedding and function venue, offering multiple income streams for potential owners.”

Located two miles from junction 16, the country house has a modern extension plus a restaurant, bar, beauty salon and extensive conference facilities.

Hazel Newson, chairman of the Royal Wootton Bassett Business Association, said it would be a shame if the hotel, which is used by the local Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce, was lost in a future sale.

She said: "It is much loved and much used by many local groups. It will be sadly missed by a great many, its close to the town and it's got good parking."
