STAFF at the Coventry Building Society raised thousands for charity after a year of hosting various fundraising events.

Thanks to the generosity of the society’s members and the diligence of staff, the Royal Wootton Bassett branch, based in Boroughfields, raised £2,600 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

“It’s the second year in a row we’ve raised money for the Air Ambulance,” said branch manager Karen Collin.

“It’s a cause that I think is close to a lot of people’s hearts and a lot of our members’ hearts too.

“You never know when you are going to need them, and even though sometimes it doesn’t work out quite the way you want it to the work they do is just amazing.”

During the past 18 months, staff at the branch held cake sales, rafffles and shook collection tins to try and raise funds to keep the air ambulance flying.

“We’re really pleased we managed to raise so much,” said Karen.

“We’re quite a small branch, we only have six staff members, and so we are all pretty pleased to have raise that amount of money.

“It’s certainly a cause that we feel passionately about and clearly our members do too.

“I just want to thank everyone who made a donation and helped us to raise the money for this very good cause.”
