SCANNERS and other equipment used by the employees made redundant at delivery company City Link have been sold on to a rival distribution firm in a seven-figure deal.

City Link’s depot at Interface Business Park, Royal Wootton Bassett, closed on New Year’s Eve with the loss of 54 jobs being announced then with a further five redundancies announced yesterday.

The depot was the firm’s biggest in the south west and had employed 73 people.

Now it has been revealed that the joint administrators of City Link have reached an agreement with DX, a leading independent parcels, mail and logistics network operator.

City Link has sold assets for a total cash consideration of £1.125m. The assets sold comprise cages, scanners and intellectual property.

Hunter Kelly, joint administrator of City Link, said: “This transaction represents our first step in realising the value of City Link’s assets.

“We will continue this process over the coming weeks, alongside conducting an orderly wind down of the company’s operations.”

Petar Cvetkovic, chief executive of DX, said: “It is very sad City Link has been unable to continue as a going concern, particularly for its employees and contractors. The administrators are now proceeding with an orderly sale of assets and we have made a limited investment to acquire certain assets.

“We are also doing all we can to provide opportunities for former City Link employees and contractors, to offer solutions to customers who may need a new carrier.”
