Wiltshire Police have named the victim of yesterday's crash on the M4 as 47-year-old Raymond Green from Royal Wootton Bassett.
He was driving a black Seat Ibiza when it struck a wild boar at around 6.30pm between junctions 17 and 16 heading eastbound. The car was then hit by a passing lorry.
Paramedics were called but Mr Green died at the scene while the driver of the lorry was treated at the roadside and did not need to go to hospital.
The family of Mr Green have been informed and a family liaison officer has been assigned to help them.
The police are still piecing together what happened and have asked any witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Mark Cargill via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information may be left anonymously.
