More than 1,000 places are available for an annual charity run in aid of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Run2Remember will take place in Lydiard Park, near Royal Wootton Bassett, on the day before Remembrance Sunday.

Entrants can choose from a 1.1km, 5km or 11km course and can take part individually or as part of a team.

This year will see a Jump4Heroes display team parachute into the event before the Military Wives Choir perform.

Vinnie Mills, 15, will be taking part in the event for a third time this year. He was among runners at the inaugural Run2Remember two years ago and took part in last year's event.

He said: "On both occasions I took part in the 11km run, made a good time and enjoyed it. I took part because I know how much the Legion does to help soldiers and their families.

"My dad is in the forces and my family benefited from a holiday arranged by the Legion at a difficult time in our lives, so I wanted to give something back to say thank you. Hopefully this year my dad will be joining me too."

Proceeds from the event will go to this year's Poppy Appeal, which aims to raise £40 million.

Charles Byrne, director of fundraising at the Royal British Legion, said: "Run2Remember is a fantastic event that gives people of all ages the opportunity to get behind the Poppy Appeal and show their support for the armed forces community.

"By taking part on November 8 they are not only commemorating the fallen but are actively helping to support the future of the living, and right throughout the year."

Run2Remember will take place on Saturday, November 8.

Entry costs £15 or £5 for the 1.1km run. To sign up, visit www.britishlegion.org.uk/run2remember
